[Note: Though I do not identify anti-Paulists by name in this discussion, virtually everything I say about counter missionaries applies equally to them. Therefore, as you read bear in mind that each point can be applied to the typical anti-Paulist for the simple reason that anti-Paulists are counter missionaries.]
There is an ongoing battle of extreme importance that is growing in intensity in these latter days. Unfortunately, only a tiny percentage of followers of Messiah Yeshua are even aware of it, and even fewer care to engage the battle. However, those opposed to Yeshua are very aware of it and eager to participate. This participation imbalance is a primary reason many today are being persuaded to reject the Messianic writings (New Testament), which results in subsequent rejection of Yeshua as Messiah. The battle to which I am referring is the growing conflict between counter missionaries and followers of Yeshua the Messiah.
At this moment, counter missionaries are investing far more resources and zeal than are Messiah's followers. There are many reasons for this, one being that most people who believe Yeshua to be Messiah feel that they cannot put up an adequate defense. Such is not the case, and in this article I will begin to reveal why. It is my hope those who acknowledge Yeshua as Messiah will read this, begin to recognize the strength of their position, and heed the call to arms instead of avoiding the fight!
Let me first ask a key question - a question that may at first seem somewhat elementary.
Can either side - those who oppose Messiah or those who devote their lives to him - PROVE their position using ONLY the Tanakh (Old Testament)? The actual answer to this question may surprise you.The answer is NO! Neither those who rightly acknowledge Yeshua as the Messiah nor the counter missionaries, most of which display intense, deep hatred for him, can PROVE their positions using the Tanakh!
I elaborate a bit on issues surrounding the previous question in a separate article. Counter missionaries know the answer to the previous question is "no." That is why they often focus their efforts on destroying the legitimacy of the Messianic writings (New Testament), efforts which force them to utilize particularly high levels of shamelessness, slander, wildly speculative arguments, and lies. Whereas I agree that the Messianic writings (New Testament) are not perfect, I am absolutely convinced that they are reliable. Counter missionaries find a few rotten apples in a barrel and claim the entire barrel is full of rotten apples. Their arguments against the Messianic writings (New Testament) are equally applicable to all of Scripture, as well as the Talmud, Midrash Rabbah, Zohar, etc. Of course, they rarely reveal that fact since they often embrace the other writings as being either infallible or very reliable.
Most of the characteristics of counter missionaries that I discuss below apply equally to traditional Christians and counterfeit Messianics. In fact, many of the arguments I present against traditional Christian and counterfeit Messianic/Nazarene leaders are applicable to counter missionaries. However, in this article I focus specifically upon counter missionaries. Also, it should be understood that I fully agree with "counter missionaries" regarding their proof that Messiah is not "God in the flesh" and that Messiah did not come to do away with Torah. Nevertheless, despite that, I strongly and perpetually oppose counter missionary efforts to remove Yeshua from his G-d anointed position of authority. In general, counter missionaries are either ignorant of the historic facts, ignorant of their own self-imposed bias-blindness, or liars. I will give most of them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are not intending to deceive. Instead, they simply do not overtly recognize or admit to the bias in their presentation of history and Scripture. However, in some cases their psychotic hatred for the Messianic writings and Yeshua has led them into a bias-blindness that is so deep, they have literally lost all ability to reasonably consider the issues.
Psychotic? Yes. I do not use that term to be rude or offensive. I honestly feel many counter missionaries suffer from what the mental health community defines as "psychosis." A "psychotic" is a technical term used to describe those who have lost touch with reality. The Oxford University Press dictionary defines psychosis as:
psychosis: noun (pl. psychoses) a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
Counter missionaries are so fanatically feverish in their drive to disprove the Messianic writings and destroy proof that Yeshua is the promised Messiah, that they have driven themselves into a state of frenzied spiritual psychosis. Their "thought and emotions are so impaired" by their intense hatred of Yeshua and the Messianic faith, that they have "lost touch with the external reality" of history and Scripture. In addition, many counter missionaries wildly embrace Scripturally unsubstantiated Rabbinic traditions and opinion as though it is "thus sayeth the L-RD," which also causes them to loose touch with Scriptural and historic reality. A psychotic individual is a person suffering from "psychosis;" therefore, I sincerely feel many counter missionaries are psychotics, due to their self-imposed, bias driven psychosis.
First and foremost, the single overriding problem, which opponents of Yeshua the Messiah refuse to truly admit, is that almost every argument they use in this modern era is largely based upon biased assumptions and/or scholarly speculation. Traditional Christians and counterfeit Messianics use speculative assumption all the time; however, in my opinion the counter missionaries are most guilty of this error, particularly regarding history, and of refusing to admit that their arguments are founded upon assumption and extreme bias.
Counter missionaries accept what they believe because that is what they want to believe. They must take a "leap of faith" to arrive at their ultimate conclusions, though they deny this truth. Those who deny this are either liars or psychotic. It is almost laughable to watch counter missionaries twist and stretch history, scholarship, and Biblical passages, as they attempt to defame and dethrone Yeshua. Of course, it is just as laughable to watch Christians do the same as they attempt to fit Yeshua into the "jesus christ G-d incarnate" box into which the true Messiah revealed in the Messianic writings does not fit.
Here is a list of issues for which both counter missionaries and proponents of Yeshua must make assumptions, some of which dramatically affect their conclusions. Because of their rabid embrace of these and other assumptions, counter missionaries have become stricken with psychosis. As each assumption is recognized and peeled away, their arguments are ultimately exposed and shown to be void of provable fact.
All of the items below are argued by counter missionaries from unconfirmed, assumed and speculative positions. None of the positions taken by counter missionaries regarding any of these items can be proven. They are all speculative. Counter missionaries possess very powerful mental leg muscles, which have been heavily exercised from their standard practice of "jumping" to conclusions.
The list above is a broad representation of the numerous issues for which assumption is made by counter missionaries. There are more, but I wanted to keep this article short. Of course, counter missionary agents of deception present their assumptions as facts; therefore, in most cases the sentence in red that is repeated applies to them. They are often deceived or liars because they intentionally fail to present a balanced view of the available evidence for each issue listed above.
